Behind the site

imgglide is a personal project. One independent developer writes the code, keeps the site running and answers the mail; no company stands behind it.

The tools, group by group

Six groups cover the everyday jobs with pictures, and every tool in them runs in your browser:

  • Convert: the image converter reads JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, GIF, BMP and SVG files and saves JPG, PNG or WebP. Eight shortcut pages open it ready for the pairs people ask for most, such as HEIC to JPG, WebP to PNG and JPG to WebP. JPG to PDF gathers pictures into one PDF, and PDF to JPG saves each page as a JPG or PNG picture.
  • Size and shape: compress image makes JPG, PNG and WebP files lighter, resize image sets exact pixel sizes or a percentage, crop image cuts to a ratio or to a shape such as a circle or a star, and rotate image turns, flips and straightens a tilted picture.
  • AI tools: remove background cuts the subject out and leaves it transparent or puts a new background behind it, upscale image enlarges a picture 2× or 4×, blur face finds faces and hides them, and image to text reads the writing in a picture or a scanned PDF.
  • Edit and create: the photo editor adjusts light and color and adds filters, text, drawings and frames to one photo; the batch image editor runs the same steps on many pictures; watermark image stamps text or a logo; merge images joins pictures into a row, a column or a grid; the meme generator adds captions; the GIF maker turns a stack of pictures into an animation.
  • Portraits: the profile picture maker puts you in front of a new background with light retouching, and the ID and passport photo maker cuts photos to official sizes, checks them and lays out a print sheet.
  • Inspect: the image color picker reads color codes and the main colors of a picture, and the EXIF viewer shows the camera, time and place stored in a photo file and can remove them.

What happens to your pictures

Your browser opens, changes and saves them. Nothing is uploaded, so nothing reaches the developer.

Using a tool needs no account, puts no watermark on the result and has no daily limit. Memory is the practical ceiling, which is why very large files suit a computer better than a phone.

Browsers, devices and languages

Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari work, on computers as well as phones. The AI tools additionally need WebAssembly SIMD, which iPhone and iPad offer from iOS 16.4.

Pages come in seven languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Korean and Japanese.

Credits for the AI models

The AI tools use open-source models that run inside your browser. imgglide serves the model files itself, next to each license, and your browser downloads a model the first time a feature needs it.
