Photo editor

Open one picture and work through six tabs: light and color, filters, crop, text, drawing and frames. The file you opened is never changed, and every move can be undone.

Add one photo to edit (JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, GIF or BMP).

How to use it

  1. Drop a photo on the page or press ‘Choose a file’. Pasting a copied image works too.
  2. Start with ‘Adjust’ for light and color, then try a look in ‘Filters’. If a filter is too strong, lower ‘Intensity’.
  3. In ‘Crop & rotate’, pick an ‘Aspect ratio’, drag the frame over the part you want to keep, and level a tilted horizon with ‘Straighten’.
  4. Use ‘Text’ to type on the picture, ‘Draw’ to mark it up and ‘Frame’ to add a border or rounded corners.
  5. Keep the compare button held down (‘Hold to see the original’) to check your work. ‘Undo’, ‘Redo’ and ‘Reset all’ take changes back.
  6. Under ‘Save’, choose a format and a size, press ‘Save image’, then ‘Download’.

What it does

  • Twelve sliders for light, color and detail

Five sliders handle light (Exposure, Brightness, Contrast, Highlights, Shadows), four handle color (Saturation, Vibrance, Warmth, Tint) and three add finish (Sharpness, Vignette, Blur). Double-click a slider's name to send it back to zero.

  • Filters previewed on your own photo

Mono, Sepia, Vintage, Warm, Cool, Vivid, Fade, Noir, Film, Dramatic and Soft show up as small squares cut from your picture, next to the untouched Original. Filters sit on top of your adjustments, so you can keep tuning the light after you choose one.

  • Crop, turn and level

Crop freely, or lock the frame to a square (1:1), a landscape shape (3:2, 4:3, 16:9) or a portrait one (4:5, 3:4, 9:16). Quarter turns and flips take one click each, and ‘Straighten’ runs from −45° to 45° in half-degree steps, trimming the edges so no empty corners show.

  • Text you can drag, resize and turn

Add as many text boxes as you like. Each has its own font (sans-serif, serif, monospace or handwriting), size, color, bold, italic, alignment, outline, shadow and background box. Drag a box to where it belongs, then use the round handles on it to change its size or angle.

  • Pen, highlighter and eraser

Draw with a finger, a pen or a mouse, in one of eight ready colors or any shade you pick. The highlighter is see-through, and the eraser takes away only what you drew; the photo underneath stays untouched.

  • Borders and rounded corners

‘Frame’ adds a border, an outer margin and rounded corners, each sized relative to the photo's shorter side, so one setting looks right on a thumbnail and on a full-size original. A transparent-margin option leaves the margin and corners clear in PNG and WebP.

Good to know

The editor keeps a list of your settings and draws the preview from a smaller copy, so sliders stay quick on big photos; saving applies the same settings to the full-resolution picture. Ctrl+Z undoes a step and Ctrl+Shift+Z redoes it. Zoom shows the real percentage, up to 400%, and ‘Fit’ returns to the whole picture. With a mouse, hold Ctrl and scroll to zoom; on a phone, pinch with two fingers.

JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, GIF and BMP files open here, and a HEIC photo from a phone needs no conversion first. ‘Quality’ affects JPG and WebP only, and ‘Size’ can cap the longest side at 3840, 2560, 1920, 1280 or 1080 px. The saved copy is named with -edited at the end and carries no EXIF or GPS data.

Text is drawn with fonts installed on your device, so a project can look slightly different on another computer. Once you save, the words are part of the pixels and look the same everywhere. Photos above about 16.7 megapixels are edited at the largest size browsers can handle, and the page states the size it uses.

Questions and answers

How do I brighten a dark photo?

Open ‘Adjust’ and raise ‘Exposure’ to lift the whole picture, or ‘Shadows’ to open up only the dark areas. Keep the compare button pressed to measure the change against the original.

How do I crop a photo to a square?

Open ‘Crop & rotate’ and choose 1:1 under ‘Aspect ratio’. Slide the frame until the part you want sits inside it; the crop size in pixels is shown in the panel.

How do I straighten a tilted horizon?

In ‘Crop & rotate’, move ‘Straighten’ until the horizon looks level. The picture is turned and trimmed so no empty corners show.

Does the saved photo keep its location data?

No. Neither EXIF data nor a GPS position is copied into the saved image, and the photo you opened stays exactly as it was.

Which format should I save in?

JPG for ordinary photos, PNG for screenshots, crisp text and transparency, WebP when file size matters most. A JPG turns see-through areas white, so choose PNG or WebP if you need them.

Is the photo editor free, and is my photo uploaded?

It is free, with no account and no watermark. Your browser opens and edits the photo by itself, and nothing is sent to a server.
